Vacationing...
So, these snap shots are from our little excursion to Austin. We love this city...it's our favorite Texas city, second only to our beloved Denton. We planned to drive down last Tuesday and drive home Friday. (Brad had to work on Thursday, filming a conference hosted by the company he works for). We planned to visit our favorite record store, Waterloo Records. Wander through the greatest Whole Food Market in the whole country (it's HUGE!)...and eat at the greatest little Thai restaurant ever. We were also told about a Korean restaurant that we we going to eat at Tuesday night. Mixed with sitting in coffee shops, reading, and simply following our heart's desires...it was to be a wonderful and relaxing time for Brad and I.
We were staying in a little hotel not too far from downtown. It's one that we've stayed in twice before and, although it's not the Four Seasons...it has it's charms. It's situated on what they call a lake, but is, in reality, more of a large, slightly wide stream. The dining area has one wall of windows looking out onto the water...where you could spend breakfast watching adventureres canoe down the river. And the breakfast...fresh pancakes, waffles, bagels (with any spread you could want), muffins, danish, cereal, oatmeal, and coffee, tea, and juice for days. In the past, it's been the best way to start the day...
Please take note...the pictures featured here are soley of the drive down to Austin. Why, you ask? Curious as to my reasoning for excluding the remaining three days? That's because the only part of Austin I saw was the inside of our hotel room. Evidently, there has been an icky, yucky, scary, looming, won't-let-go-of-you, stomach thing going around. And it came around to me....boy, did it ever.
I began to feel sick about 2 hours outside of town. And it came on with a vengeance. I thought I was just car sick, so as we pulled into the city, we sought out the planned Korean restaurant. Only to make a U-turn, moments later, and speed back to the hotel...
And that hotel...well, apparently it's in between management at the time. And it shows...the remnant paw marks found on the back of the bathroom door were our first clue. The sad thing is...I was so sick...I no longer cared. I couldn't stand up...I had bigger things to tend to.
I'm sure the breakfast was the first to go...no pancakes. No waffles. No muffins. They had tiny little boxes of cereal and mini bagels (with, sad to say, no spread at all). This is all heresay, mind you...again, couldn't stand up. Brad was steamed though...
I've never been so relieved in my entire life to see our little apartment. Funny when home is the height of luxury to you...
I love my bed...

I am glad you got a chance to get away and just be with brad! I miss you and hope we can all get together very very soon to properly celebrate your birthday. sigh life is just too busy sometimes.
It's so true. Dorothy was right on. Too bad you couldn't have just clicked your heels together three times!!!!
Oh, I'm sorry you got sick! What a bummer way to spend a vacation. And icky hotel rooms are the worst when you're not feeling well. Been there, done that, don't want to do it again!
I'm SO sorry your wonderful little vacation got so rudely waylaid. Bad enough to be sick at home, but on the road - that's true torture, no matter how lovely or otherwise the room is. Poor Baby. I felt awful with you so far away, like I needed to take care of you, but couldn't. Will that feeling ever go away, no matter how old you get? I doubt it! Hope you are able to get away and have a REAL Austin adventure really soon.
i have been to austin once and fell immediately IN LOVE! i secretly plan to move there some day. the whole foods market is to die for. i spent 3 hours there one day, and 2 hours another day. you can not possibly see it all in 1 visit. austin also has one of my favorite coffee shopes ever--spiderhouse. i love austin and can't wait to go back some day.
sorry you have been so sick. hope it lifts soon. being sick is no fun!
Love your new look. I called your Mama yesterday. She said you're doing well. Sorry to hear you were feeling poorly. Anyone who knows me well would be surprised that I've never been to Austin...it's a city I imagine I would love. :)
Ah, the hell that was that hotel. I am so sorry you had to be stuck there. Never again. Next time we are in Austin: nothing less than 4 stars. It's a new family rule.
